The Content Management System (CMS) is central to a business web site and is used by you and your web site developers to control how the site looks, operates and the content displayed. The CMS must be robust and easily understood. You need to be assured that your web developers have a secure and robust software platform. And in my experience this is almost impossible to achieve economically in a small or medium sized web design company. The CMS needs to written, tested, updated, documented and you need to assure yourself this is not the responsibility of just one or two key development staff. Development resources are expensive, and it is you the customer who will be paying for this in some way.
