3. Personalised Prospectus
Students are among the most sophisticated web users and expect to have immediate access to the information they need. Waiting for a printed prospectus to arrive in the post or waiting for a bulky PDF to download is not immediate and of course the student still needs to read through the whole prospectus to find the information important to them. A new student enquirer may have to go through the exercise twice if they are considering full time and part time courses, where often there is a prospectus for each. And of course allowing students to download prospectuses anonymously means the marketing team miss the opportunity to collect a sales lead from the website.
Qlue have built an intelligent myProspectus builder that solves these problems and you can learn more about it here.
myProspectus - How it Works
myProspectus ensures prospective students only receive the information they are interested in by stepping them through a quick and easy web form that works great on PCs, Macs and with increasing importance, on mobile devices like iPhone, iPad and Android phones and tabs.
At K College, in Kent, they have configured myProspectus to work in three simple steps:
Step 1 - Capturing Personal Details
From our experience, students are happy to give up some information about themselves if it is worthwhile and in this case they do want the prospectus. The first step of myProspectus builder is to record some basic information about the prospective student. At K College they have chosen to record five pieces of information; this could be configured to include a great deal more, for instance full address, qualifications achieved, etc. or indeed simplified to just capture an email address and mobile telephone number which is the minimum required to communicate and market directly to the prospective student.
Step 2 : Building the Prospectus
Students choose the curriculum areas they are interested in and myProspectus intelligently refers to your existing PDF prospectuses and extracts information about that curriculum area and the courses available together with any supporting information and builds a bespoke prospectus for the student. In addition, based upon the courses selected the personalised prospectus can contain appropriate application forms, funding information, fees and other general information about the college that you wish the student to receive.
So already, students interested in two curriculum areas out of say a possible twenty, will have built a personalised prospectus one tenth of the original.
Step 3 - Delivering the bespoke prospectus
The final step is for the student to choose how to receive their bespoke prospectus. Ideally, colleges should only consider the free to deliver electronic versions, ie. by email, immediate download or to view it online. Whilst colleges are only just beginning to migrate from the printed prospectus, the fourth option allows the student to request their prospectus to be sent in the post and we have developed a process to then request a verified address and facilitate printing and dispatch either within the college are from our own facilities.
In summary, the myProspectus add-on to your college website delivers to students just the information they need and will reduce the number of prospectuses you print and post. myProspectus integrates with myLearner Dashboard and myCourse Finder tools already in use at K College, Uxbridge College, Sussex Coast College and Waltham Forest College.
